Manufacturing

Out of the 58 projects in the BLCF portfolio, four are categorised as being part of the manufacturing sector, accounting for a total of £901,496 of grants awarded and £1,878,735 of private sector contributions. Through these grants, BLCF has been able to leverage a complex and interesting range of projects.

CSR: Walking the walk in Vietnam

The footwear industry in Vietnam is expanding rapidly and is recognised as one of the key industries leading Vietnam's economic development. It employs some 400,000 people and this number is expected to rise significantly over the next few years as the businesses achieve better access to international markets.


 

Fair trade comes to Afghanistan

At the completion of the BLCF funded in project in 2008, 350 young Afghans – 40 per cent women and many disabled – will have been educated and trained to be financially independent through a sustainable 'fair trade' economic model for embroidered goods with potential to transfer to other sectors such as dried fruits.


 

Alive & Kicking in Kenya

The power of sport is being leveraged to engage Kenyan youth in HIV/AIDS awareness, through a sports-based health consortium’s revolutionary venture producing hand-stitched leather balls.
